This is a plain-language summary of how we handle your data. It's meant to be easy to read, not to replace the real thing. The full legal version is the binding document.
Open Invite is a social event-sharing app where friends post what they're doing and others can join in. Here's how we handle your data.
The short version: we collect what we need to run the app, we don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you.
When you add a location to a plan or poll, we store the place name and coordinates you provide. We use a geocoding service (Photon, hosted by Komoot) to convert place names to coordinates. Your search query and approximate device location (if you've granted location access) are sent to this service to improve results.
We do not track your device location in the background. The “locate me” button on the map is a one-time browser request that stays on your device.
We use Vercel Analytics to see anonymous, aggregate page view data (which pages get visited and how often). It's cookie-free, doesn't track individual users, and doesn't collect personal info. No tracking pixels, no ad SDKs.
One authentication cookie to keep you signed in. That's it. No third-party cookies, no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties. Ever.
We use a small number of services to run the app:
Open Invite is private by default. Your plans are only visible to people in the circles you share them with, or people you directly invite. Your profile is visible based on your discoverability setting (which you control in Settings).
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We keep your data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (in Settings), we permanently delete everything — profile, plans, RSVPs, comments, circle memberships, notifications. This is irreversible.
You can:
EU/EEA and California residents have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively — see the full legal version for details.
Open Invite is not for users under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll always update the date at the top. For significant changes that affect how your data is collected or shared, we'll notify active users through the app.
